The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines that are currently in stock will be expiring in July, an official said.

According to sources, the vaccines are due to expire by the end of July.

“As far as the expiry date of Pfizer vaccines is concerned, albeit there is no threat at present, the vaccines will have to be incinerated if we didn’t reach the expected percentage which is at least 80 per cent,” sources said.

Commenting on the situation, COVID-19 Coordinator Dr. Anwar Hamdani told Daily Mirror that every drug and vaccine has its expiry dates and likewise, the current stock of Pfizer vaccines will be expiring in July.

“At present, people still show slight hesitancy in getting the booster doses. However, the numbers have improved compared to where we were. The total number of recipients of booster dose is nearing 55 per cent, which needs to increase further," Dr Hamdani pointed out.

Thus, he urged people to get the booster dose without being deceived by misinformation, as there has been no report of any harm caused to anyone due to the vaccine. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

    Kikazaru Friday, 25 March 2022 08:26 AM

Poor planing as usual. This is why they were pushing the people to get the booster shot. The norm is to get the booster after 6 months but in Sri Lanka they did is after 3 months from the second dose. This is why people are rejecting the vaccines as no one knows what is going on. Well well well, a clown in fancy dress was at one time running the circus.

    Asiri Friday, 25 March 2022 08:58 AM

Isnt this the same clown who said that not enough research was done to find out whether or not the vaccines causes sexual dysfunction? Did you complete the study? If so share the results with us then we can make our own choices.

Remove all restrictions on covid 19 except health guidelines. People are not pigs to be vaccinated over and over again.

Karalasingam Sivalingam Friday, 25 March 2022 09:04 AM

Don't use vaccinations, because they are expiring.

    Aviator Friday, 25 March 2022 09:15 AM

What do you mean no harm? Stop lying to the people. There are so many who I know that are suffering from various ailments since getting these vaccines including but not limited to very severe joint aches, partial immobility, resurfacing of underlying problems etc. You know this but you prefer to jab every individual in this country despite knowing the harmful effects of the vaccine.

    Roshanaly Friday, 25 March 2022 09:16 AM

    Antonita Friday, 25 March 2022 03:50 PM

I still don’t understand how people still buy into this narrative!!! Ridiculous Guinea pigs…good luck! I’m happily unvaccinated and no signs of COVID!!!

    Seqi Friday, 25 March 2022 06:00 PM

Can get Covishield ( Astra Zenica) from India as part of credit line. Overall Astra Zenica has a better record than Pfizer. Of course Sputnik has been the best all round vaccine but the concerted effort by Western business interests to malign it succeeded, sadly.

    Naveed Friday, 25 March 2022 06:15 PM

MOH office Matale turned away people who wanted to get the booster shot requesting them to bring 5 people to inoculate at one. Shame on the Health Ministry for your media tamashas
