President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has emailed his resignation letter to the Parliament Speaker but the official announcement is likely scheduled for tomorrow, the Daily Mirror learns.
Rajapaksa had emailed the letter on Wednesday evening to the Speaker but after it was validated, discussions began with the Attorney General over some technical issues.
Although Rajapaksa has confirmed the authentication of the letter to the Speaker, legal discussions over it are still ongoing.
The Speaker is scheduled to make a formal announcement tomorrow morning. (JAMILA HUSAIN)
