    Acid Wednesday, 24 April 2024 02:02 PM

    Venura Wednesday, 24 April 2024 02:14 PM

    Jude Thursday, 25 April 2024 12:22 AM

Have we exhausted all hydropower capacity by now as apparently now the trend is towards solar wind etc no one seems interested in tapping more hydropower sources anymore because we couldn't find any development in pipeline the most cost effective energy source is now being forgotten. Thanks the Iranian government for the gesture

I think USD 50 million was given by Iran for this USD 450 million project! Sri Lanka invested the balance! Please check! I say this because Sri Lankans must get a significant part of the credit for this project!

    Mahila Thursday, 25 April 2024 01:41 AM

You are absolutely right!!?? Loan outstanding only 33 Million USD

    Gayan Wednesday, 24 April 2024 05:45 PM

Iran is a longtime friend of Sri Lanka. Thank you.

Jeoffrey Lenard Wednesday, 24 April 2024 06:56 PM

    Thank you MR!

    joshua Wednesday, 24 April 2024 09:16 PM

Please get back soon without inconveniencing the public with road closure.

    Foreign Engineers 1 , Sri Lankan Engineers 0 Wednesday, 24 April 2024 09:27 PM

Thank you Iran for the transfer of Civil Engineering Technology to complete this water project . But shame on Sri Lankan Civil Engineers for not possessing the technology. The story is the same, in every major project in Sri Lanka it is the foreign Engineers who bring the technology to complete the projects . Then what is the purpose of having University Engineering Faculties in Sri Lanka ? It is better to close them all, and create practical Engineers through technical colleges in Sri Lanka.

    Onlooker Thursday, 25 April 2024 03:05 AM

This was a project by an Iranian Company which encountered many faults as they did not have expertise. So they had to put it right - not SL engineers. The project completion was delayed by a few years.

Our university student do protest rallies for JVP. Thst us what they do most if the time. Their creativity has been killed by JVP from the beginning.

    Fernando Wednesday, 24 April 2024 11:49 PM

Should have invited MR as well for the ceremony. Thanks Mr RW for at least mentioning his name.

SSZ KHAN Thursday, 25 April 2024 12:26 AM

Iran is a good country with technology and development. We should develop our relationship with Iran

    Jude Thursday, 25 April 2024 01:57 AM

Uma Oya project cost $514 million and it's very good project beneficial to millions of lankans. Now SL government gonna assume the debt of SriLankan airlines totaling to $510 million, the humongous loss which benefitted for some Rich lankans and some foreigners!! Can't understand Why government still funding SriLankan airlines. Government should've got out from airline business long time ago!!

    ignatius Thursday, 25 April 2024 05:11 AM

Be it Loan OR Donation, We need other countries to help us develop. Only thing - I am worried about is the hickups like 10%

Tissa Fernando Thursday, 25 April 2024 05:17 AM

Iran has funded and helped build a very promising mega project in Sri Lanka. Did any of those western countries do anything like that. ? China too built quality highways, did any western country ever do anything useful except talk about human right abuse claims submitted by former LTTE cadres who are living in their countries.

    K Theivasagayam Thursday, 25 April 2024 12:09 PM

Nearly all the Projects under Accelerated Mahaweli Development Programme from 1978-1983 including the preliminary investigation work was by the western countries. Kotmale Dam Project-Swedish Aid/part grant Victoria Dam Project-British Grant Randenigala

TIME FOR A REALITY CHECK, THOSE WHO HAVE UNDERSTOOD AND EDUCATED THEMSELVES OVER THE DECADES SHOULD GO OUT AND DO SOME CANVASSING FOR A CHANGE EXCLUDING THE EXISTING CORRUPT, STOOGES, LACK OF INTERGRI Thursday, 25 April 2024 12:25 PM

WESTERN COUNTRIES DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THESE PROJECTS, ALL THE DEALING AND WHEELING ARE DONE SECRETLY AND COME OUT IN THE OPEN YEARS AFTER AS ONLY A FEW POLITICIANS ARE IN THE KNOW, EVEN OUR PEOPLE ARE LEFT IN THE DARK AND SO THEY THINK COUNTRIES LIKE CHINA RUSSIA AND IRAN ARE GOD SENT TO HELP SRI LANKA. WESTERN COUNTRIES DO NOT PAY 10% AND WORK BY THE BOOK AND ETHICAL STANDARDS, SO THEY DO NOT GET A CHANCE TO TENDER AND OR EVEN KNOW ABOUT SOME PROJECTS. SOME OF YOU ARE LIVING IN A WORLD OF YOUR OWN AND FAR AWAY FROM REALITY. WAKE UP PEOPLE OR YOUR SUFFERING WILL GO INTO GENERATIONS TO COME. I AM NOT SURPRISED THAT RANIL IS CONTESTING UNDER A NEW SYMBOL, HE IS ASHAMED TO PRESENT HIMSELF AS OF THE UNP. HE HAS BEEN SUCKING UP TO GOTA AND PARTY, HE MAY CROW UNTIL HE IS BLUE IN THE FACE, BUT END RESULT WILL BE THIS SO CALLE FOX MAY HAVE A BRAIN BUT NO BACKBONE AND SUBSTANCE. WE THE PEOPLE, NEED TO CHANGE THE FOX AND CROW INTERPRETATION, THIS ELECTION IS OUR LAST CHANGE AND HOPE FOR A BETTER

    Wiseman Thursday, 25 April 2024 07:18 AM

Iran is a perfect example of self-sufficiency and even under heavy sanctions for decades, they help us with these projects. We should learn from them.

    Shera Thursday, 25 April 2024 09:04 PM

People here saying "western countries" didn't do anything for Sri Lanka. Beggars have forgotten. Let's start with your cup of tea and the railway lines you still travel on courtesy the British. The dams ans reservoir projects around Sri Lanka which were funded and built by Sweden (Skanka) and Netherlands (Ballast Nedam) and the last meal you ate today courtesy the IMF and World Bank!!! So just sit and be quiet.

    DarrelB Thursday, 25 April 2024 09:24 PM

Good gesture from Iran. Where is the Sri Lanka flag, why only the Iranian flag??
