Why is the Cardinal trying to be a fool again, didn't he learn a lesson from his underhand dealings with the former President; and in the process humiliate the Catholic community. As a religious figure he should be a political.

In this country you will get nothing if you remain non political as every thing in this country is mixed up with politics. Hope NPP will address this issue as they do not have under hand connection with any political party

    Banda Thursday, 18 April 2024 03:07 PM

Useless. They will secure only 2M in a presidential election and around 40 seats in parliament as they used to secure in 2004 April 1st parliamentry election even if the winds that fan only the incumbent chang its direction.

    YLG Thursday, 18 April 2024 03:28 PM

Yep. I remember him supporting the Rajapakse to gain power.

    Viraj Thursday, 18 April 2024 06:46 PM

What else do you expect support Ranil and CO who let this horrific attack to happen due to their inability??????????

Devaka Attygalle Thursday, 18 April 2024 04:09 PM

Desperate attempt by JVP/NPP to gain political points

Salinda Wickremasinghe Thursday, 18 April 2024 04:38 PM

Only NPP can be trusted for justice to the victims. No other party can be trusted at all. As it's highly likely that NPP will come to power, they should walk the talk and ensure that the real culprits will be found and punished.

Brought down the entire nation by going shopping in November 2019. Now will go shopping for a set of subversives who will Finnish whatever that’s remaining of our nation. Curse!

    Ram Thursday, 18 April 2024 04:46 PM

If NPP win the election and disregard the assurances given Sri Lanka will be doomed for ever

Playing to the gallery is why we are here. These fellows are the same in that aspect, in-fact the worst.

    warren Thursday, 18 April 2024 05:23 PM

We also need a 7 (or more) point statement to look into the atrocities the JVP committed during the 88/89 period.

    Champika Friday, 19 April 2024 07:42 AM

Well said. A convenient lapse of memory.

This saga will also to waste tax payers with commissions, as elsewhere in paper seen below comment, Quote-- The debate which is to begin on April 24 is to cost the public Rs 45 million if one goes by the remark made by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena who claimed that the three day debate on the no faith motion against him cost Rs.45 million in March this year. Un quote--

All orchestrated and choreographed by the NPP lackeys. Now does that mean that the Cardinal been recruited to play politics like he did during the 2019 elections? It is very unlikely that his flock will be blindly influenced and led by him yet again. He was so very wrong in his political games last time and almost certainly he will be wrong yet again. He as an individual is after cheap political patronage and seems to be misusing his high office for cheap personal gain.

    Johnathan Thursday, 18 April 2024 08:44 PM

Remember how the NPP predecessor the JVP treated religious leaders and dignitaries in the past? Lest we forget. Now it is very convenient to appear to want to appease them! May be the Cardinal will be fooled by not the people.

    Patriot Thursday, 18 April 2024 09:18 PM

This is a joke. Aren't JVP communist? Communists are atheists.

    Anil Thursday, 18 April 2024 10:32 PM

They have even started visiting Mahanayakes now!

    Lo Friday, 19 April 2024 12:08 AM

I don't know why still people go behind SJB and Ranil and MR . All are one

Dolly Dias Friday, 19 April 2024 05:33 AM

Pure politics. What a joke. Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith is taken for a ride by the JVP/NPP. Poor old Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith has forgotten what the JVP/NPP did in the late 80’s. The JVP/NPP killed more people than the number that died in the unfortunate Easter bombing. I presume Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith is also going nuts.

Bernard Jayatilake Friday, 19 April 2024 07:44 AM

Mere rhetoric to woo voters in an election cannot be taken seriously but the question is :can they walk the talk?

    Grace Friday, 19 April 2024 10:22 AM

After 5 years, hibernating politicians are waking up for justice for the Easter attacks victims keeping the election in mind.

Pohottu Supporter Friday, 19 April 2024 11:14 AM

If the NPP gets into power and does not do anything to punish the real culprits of the Easter Attack, i.e. the Brains behind the Easter Attack, do not start telling us again we were fooled and deceived by the politicians.
