Arrest Maithri: Opposition MPs

Colombo, March 23 (Daily Mirror) - Opposition MPs Mano Ganesan and Kavinda Jayawardene today called for the immediate arrest of former President Maithripala Sirisena and to interrogate him regarding the remark he made on Friday, stating that he is aware of the mastermind behind the Easter Sunday attacks.

"Police should question the former President immediately," MP Ganesan told journalists.

"The whole world is waiting to find out who was behind the Easter Sunday attacks. Therefore, Sirisena should be made to reveal all details," he added.

MP Kavinda Jayawardene said they have already lodged a complaint with the CID against Sirisena.

"We want the former President arrested immediately and produced before courts," he said.

The MPs said they have already discussed the issue with the church leaders in Sri Lanka.

Correct. Sirisena has already shown that he is insane through his strange and absurd decisions during his time in office. In doing so, he caused great damage to the country and made himself a laughing stock in the diplomatic arena around the world. But as a parliamentarian in Sri Lanka, being crazy is only an advantage. But perhaps a judge will now commit him to a closed ward in a mental institution.

MS must be question and there is no doubt about it. He must be served with a Notice to come to CID and if he fails then a court order must be obtained. Knowing and not revealing details about a crime is an offence.

We have seen many politicians making similar statements in the past, that they have files of the misdeeds committed by X, Y or Z etc or that they know details about criminal acts of A, B or C etc. Police never question when politicians make these statements. IGP must be held responsible for dereliction of duty in such situations
