The syrup produced by Ayurvedic practitioner Dhammika Bandara, which he claims is a cure for COVID-19, was handed over to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene today at the Parliamentary complex. The Speaker and several other government MPs were later seen taking a sip of the syrup.

The Colombo Municipal Council today began cremating unclaimed bodies of coronavirus victims after obtaining legal clearance from the Attorney General. At least 20 bodies are being cremated from today. Officials said that it will take approximately two hours to cremate each body so the process will take a few days.

Despite the Government claiming that maximum facilities are provided to Covid-19 patients, the accommodation facilities at the Divisional Hospital A – Dankotuwa remain at a minimum level. Patients also complain that there is no facility for them to pass the time and ease their stress. However, the service rendered by the hospital staff including doctors and nurses is commendable and great, they said.
