Kane the Hero.! England escape shock exit as Belgium rally to win


July.02 (Mirror Sports) - Harry Kane scored twice in the final 15 minutes as England came from behind to beat Congo DR 2-1 and secure a place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16.

Brian Cipenga gave Congo DR an early lead before Kane struck in the 75th and 86th minutes to complete England's comeback. Thomas Tuchel's side will now face co-hosts Mexico in the last 16.

Belgium also advanced after recovering from a two-goal deficit to defeat Senegal 3-2 after extra time. Romelu Lukaku started the comeback before captain Youri Tielemans equalised late in normal time and converted a 125th-minute penalty following a VAR review.

England and Belgium both overturned deficits to progress to the Round of 16, keeping their World Cup campaigns alive.



 

Belgium Come From Two Goals Down to Reach World Cup Last 16

Belgium came from two goals down to beat Senegal 3-2 after extra time and book their place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16.

Habib Diarra and Ismaila Sarr put Senegal in control before Romelu Lukaku reduced the deficit in the 86th minute. Captain Youri Tielemans then headed in an 89th-minute equaliser to force extra time.



Tielemans completed the comeback by converting a penalty in the 125th minute after a VAR review awarded Belgium a spot-kick.

Belgium will face either the United States or Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 16.
