Sri Lanka have won the title of the Asia Cup Champions for the sixth time, beating Pakistan by 23 runs in the final of the tournament at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday night.
Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 170 runs in allotted twenty overs.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa with 71 runs and Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva with 36 runs remained the main scorers from Sri Lankan side. A 58-run partnership between Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva and Bhanuka Rajapaksa provided a perfect launch pad for Sri Lanka to set a competitive target.
From Pakistan, Haris Rauf took three wickets, while Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed took one wicket each.
In reply, Pakistan were all out on 147 runs in twenty overs.
Mohammad Rizwan with 55 runs and Iftikhar Ahmed with 32 runs remained top scorers for Pakistan. From Sri Lanka, Pramod Madushan took four, Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva grabbed three, while Chamika Karunaratne clinched two wickets.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka was declared player of the match, while Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva won Player of the Series Title.

In whole of South Asia Sri Lanka has a better history , it was ruled by the whites lasting nearly 400 years but India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh were ruled by the Muslims and the Whites for 1300 years until 1947. That is why we Sri Lankans have a better character than other South Asians. The two reasons for the failure of Sri Lanka was the introduction of “free education “ which led later to the creation the JVP and the LTTE and secondly the failure of the government to remove the “Christian Ownership” of the elite schools in Sri Lanka. If these things had not happened we would not just be a cricketing powerhouse but a powerful and rich country dominating South Asia like small Britain dominated Europe in the 19th century.

Those fomenting/facilitating maligned thoughts, DON’T forget historical, Aryan (?), Prince Vijaya’s and his cohorts (600), usurping Power from Kuveni and importing, the preferred 600 Pandian Princess – Progeny – began, Sri Lankan or Sinhala Race!!! This continued until 1815!! So 2500 years, SL had Indian bloodlines!!??? Not forgetting the Javanese Muslim influence of Southeast SL - 12th century – provide security – foreign invasions??!! Hambantota, Tangalle regions – unmistakable ‘Javen’ resemblance! Then the case of the Arab traders, especially, NW and SW SL domiciled Mannar to Galle/Matara their genes?? ‘Humbayas’ adorning white sarongs!!??

Starting next month on the 15th of October we can find out how good the Sri Lanka Cricket team is against the rest of the world on bouncy wickets that hardly spin in the 2022 T20 cricket World Cup in Australia. Currently Australia remain favourites having defeated Sri Lanka only recently 4-1 at home and 2-1 in SriLanka. Only India who have a better record than other teams in T20 cricket in Australia are tipped to make it to the finals though failing to make it to the finals in the Asia cup just concluded.
