Provincial Council elections will be held only after amending electoral system: Harini

Colombo, June 10 (Daily Mirror) - Ruling out the possibility of holding the Provincial Council elections under the proportional representation system, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya told Parliament today that the polls will be held only after introducing a new electoral system.

Responding to a question raised by MP Ravi Karunanayake, the Premier said there is no point in holding the polls without ensuring adequate women and youth representation in the Provincial Councils.
