Founded in 2000 as part of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and later established as an independent entity, the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) operates as a not-for-profit member association. It was incorporated as a guarantee-limited company in 2012 under the Sri Lanka Companies Act 7 of 2007. As a member of the Global Network of Director Institutes (GNDI), SLID is committed to fostering and promoting best practices in corporate governance and board leadership programs. The institute’s primary objective is to enhance the abilities of directors to drive sustainable performance for the benefit of shareholders, the economy, and society as a whole. The Annual Members Meeting for 2023 was held on June 29th at the esteemed Cinnamon Grand. The event was graced by the presence of Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Chief Guest, while His Excellency Denis Chaibi, the European Union’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives, attended as the Guest of Honor. The gathering commenced with an address by the former Chairman, Mr. Faizal Salieh, followed by the election of the new chairperson, Ms. Aroshi Nanayakkara, along with Mr. Dinesh Weerakkody as the Senior Vice Chairperson and Mr. Dilshan Rodrigo as the Vice Chairperson.
