Can you tell us about your early life in Africa and India and how those experiences shaped your perspective on technology and entrepreneurship?

Growing up in both Africa and India exposed me to diverse cultures and challenges. In Africa, mobile technology transformed access to essential services in remote areas, while in India, the growing tech economy sparked my passion for innovation. These experiences shaped my belief in technology as an equalizer. The obstacles I witnessed taught me to view challenges as opportunities, fostering my entrepreneurial mindset and reinforcing the importance of perseverance and creative thinking; values that continue to guide my approach to business and technology today.

What were the key highlights of your primary, secondary, and tertiary education? Did any specific subjects or experiences ignite your passion for technology and AI?

I studied Computer Science at A’Level, but my passion for technology truly developed later while working in the tech sector. The release of ChatGPT in late 2022 opened up a world of possibilities, deepening my interest in AI. A key highlight was working on a business project that addressed real-world challenges, including developing a strategy for a student accommodation company and my own new business. The collaborative nature of these projects, combined with their tangible impact, reinforced my enthusiasm for technology and AI. Seeing first-hand how innovation can drive meaningful solutions solidified my commitment to leveraging technology for problem-solving and entrepreneurship.

How did your cultural background influence your career choices and entrepreneurial journey?

My cultural background has deeply shaped my career and entrepreneurial journey, instilling values like innovation, adaptability, and problem-solving. Growing up, I learned the importance of giving back to the community, guiding my mission to create solutions that benefit both businesses and society. Education was key in my upbringing, fuelling my passion for lifelong learning and inspiring the creation of AI Learning Lab Network.

Before starting AI Learning Lab Network, where did you work, and what were some of the most valuable lessons you learned in those roles?

Before founding the AI Learning Lab Network, I worked with top UK retail and tech companies like John Lewis, M&S, and Vodafone. These roles taught me the importance of prioritizing customer needs and delivering value-driven solutions. The fast-paced nature of these industries honed my ability to adapt quickly and think creatively, lessons that have greatly influenced my entrepreneurial journey.

What inspired you to start your own business in the tech space, specifically focusing on AI workshops?

I was inspired to start my business in the tech space, focusing on AI workshops, due to personal experiences and a desire to make a meaningful impact. Passionate about education, I saw a gap in beginner-friendly AI classes that simplified complex concepts. This motivated me to create accessible, engaging workshops that empower individuals and businesses to embrace AI’s potential for growth and innovation.

What do you see as the biggest misconception about AI among people attending your workshops?

A common misconception among workshop attendees is that AI is too complex or only for tech experts. Many professionals and small business owners feel intimidated, thinking coding skills are necessary, or fearing AI will replace jobs. My workshops aim to simplify AI concepts, showing how it’s an accessible, practical tool that enhances human capabilities and offers opportunities for everyone.

How do you tailor your workshops to suit different industries or levels of AI literacy?

We tailor our workshops by offering training for both beginners and intermediate learners. For newcomers, we simplify AI concepts with real-world examples and hands-on tools. For advanced participants, we explore deeper AI applications and strategic implementation. We also provide customized training for teams, aligning with industry needs and organizational goals, ensuring practical, immediately applicable skills for any sector.

Have you considered offering virtual workshops for corporates and individuals in Asia?

Yes, we currently offer online training sessions globally, including for corporates and individuals in Asia. Our virtual workshops provide flexibility across time zones, catering to diverse industries and AI needs. This global approach allows us to reach a wider audience, helping businesses and professionals in Asia gain valuable AI insights and skills. We aim to foster innovation and collaboration worldwide, making AI education accessible to all.

For our online training sessions, we use Zoom, offering interactive features like live discussions, screen sharing, and real-time Q&A. We’re also pursuing corporate partnerships to offer tailored training programs that address the specific needs of businesses and teams. Additionally, we’re engaging with technology providers to enhance our tools and resources, ensuring our training remains innovative and effective. What role do you think AI will play in shaping the future of work and entrepreneurship?

AI is transforming the future of work and entrepreneurship by driving automation and innovation. It will automate repetitive tasks, allowing individuals and organizations to focus on higher-value activities. Tools like AI-powered chatbots, predictive analytics, and workflow automation will boost productivity and resource efficiency. AI will also revolutionize product creation and delivery, opening new markets and opportunities, while fostering continuous learning and upskilling across industries.

What advice would you give to other South Asian women aspiring to enter the tech or entrepreneurial space?

My advice to South Asian women aspiring to enter the tech or entrepreneurial space is to embrace innovation and risk-taking. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, experiment, and learn from failures; each challenge you overcome brings you closer to success. Start small but think big; you don’t need to have everything figured out from the beginning. Set achievable goals and build momentum over time. Keep your long-term vision in sight and remain persistent. Also, celebrate your achievements. Every milestone, big or small, is worth acknowledging. Recognizing your progress fuels motivation and inspires others to pursue their dreams.

How do you hope to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs, particularly women in technology?

I aim to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs, particularly women in technology, by fostering an empowering environment for them to pursue their dreams. Through the AI Learning Lab Network, I strive to make tech education more inclusive and accessible. By offering workshops, mentorship, and networking opportunities, I provide aspiring entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge, and support to succeed and lead with purpose, creating meaningful change in their industries.

Who do you look up to for inspiration and mentorship?

I draw inspiration from several influential tech leaders who have paved the way for others in the industry. Reshma Saujani, the founder of Girls Who Code, is a major role model for her work in closing the gender gap in technology and empowering young women to pursue careers in STEM. Ginni Rometty, the former CEO of IBM, is another figure I admire for being one of the first women to lead a major tech company, demonstrating resilience and leadership in a male-dominated field. Both women offer valuable lessons in perseverance, leadership, and creating opportunities for others, which deeply resonate with my own journey.

Any regret?

I regret not starting my company earlier, as it could have accelerated growth and impact. However, I value the lessons from my journey, as they’ve shaped who I am today. I believe the timing has worked out, and I’m excited about the future and the opportunities ahead.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

In 10 years, I envision myself as a thought leader in technology, AI education, and entrepreneurship, mentoring the next generation of innovators. I aim to promote AI literacy, advocate for ethical AI adoption, and shape a future where technology benefits society responsibly, leaving a lasting impact on both the tech industry and community.
