Court orders arrest of Deputy Minister Eranga Gunasekara, MP Jagath Manuwarna



Colombo, July 17 (Daily Mirror) - The Fort Magistrate’s Court today (17) ordered the arrest of Deputy Minister of Urban Development Eranga Gunasekara, MP Jagath Manuwarna and four others after they failed to appear for a scheduled hearing.

The six accused, who are currently out on bail, are facing charges of participating in protests and being members of an unlawful assembly in violation of a court order.

Additional Magistrate Kingsley Hettiarachchi issued arrest warrants for Deputy Minister Gunasekara, MP Manuwarna, Roshan Ali Dhaniz Ali, Amal Salinda alias “Army Amila”, Udayanga Kumara and the Venerable Koswatte Mahanama Thero.

The court also issued notices to the sureties who stood bail for the accused and fixed the case for December 4, 2026.
