It was a disaster for St. Anthony’s College as they were beaten by Thurstan College by 14 points to 12 points in the Plate segment match of the inter-school League rugby championships at Nittawela yesterday. The Antonians had their chances of scoring more points to win the match but fumbled at crucial stages. At one stage they led Thurstan 12-7.
Thurstan College on the other hand played a collective game to a plan and it was no surprise that they turned tables on the home team.
With the win Thurstan firmly put themselves in control to push ahead to winning to winning the Plate trophy awarded to the second best teams in the 2026 season.
