Sea Hawks forward Mohamed Hasmeer celebrates after scoring the decisive goal for his team

Sea Hawks recorded a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Red Star in the last match of the opening week of the football Super League earning all three points to join the league leaders.
The two teams battled through a closely contested first half, with neither side able to find the back of the net as the score remained goalless at the interval.
The decisive moment came in the 51st minute when Sea Hawks forward Mohamed Hasmeer scored the match-winning goal, securing a valuable victory for his side.
The FFSL Super League features 10 of the country’s leading football clubs and will be played every weekend until September 15. The nine-week competition comprises 45 matches, all of which will be staged at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.
With all five first-round matches now completed, Upcountry Lions, Renown and Sea Hawks are tied at the top of the standings with three points each.
In other matches of the opening week Upcountry Lions registered the biggest win of the round by defeating Blue Star SC 9-1, while Renown SC overcame Ratnam SC 3-0. New Youngs SC and Blue Eagles SC shared the points following a goalless draw while Colombo FC and Defenders FC played out a 1-1 draw.
The second week of matches is scheduled to take place from July 25 to 29, with another five matches lined up as teams continue their quest for the league title.
