Ravidu strikes gold in weightlifting

Sixteen-year-old K.D. Shenal Ravidu of Dudley Senanayaka College, Colombo powered his way to victory at the All Island School Games 2025, clinching first place in the Under-17 Boys’ 49kg weightlifting event.

Representing the Western Province, Ravidu impressed with a fine display of strength and technique, lifting 69kg in the Snatch and 81kg in the Clean & Jerk, for a combined total of 150kg. His outstanding performance secured the gold medal in his category.

Ravidu trains under the guidance of coaches Navindra Dhayan and Ravindra Jeewantha, who have been instrumental in honing his skills and preparing him for the national stage.
