Sohail Zenon of Blacktown Billiards Club Gampaha, Mohamed Rimzan of YMCA Colombo and Mohamed Wazil of Master SC Ratnapura emerged champions of the qualifying round of the Gampaha, Colombo and Ratnapura district tournaments.

The tournaments were conducted as a prelude to the forthcoming National Pool Championship which is revived after a lapse of 14 years with the last having being conducted in 2012.

The National Pool Championship which is scheduled to get underway with the first round matches to be played from February 7 will have the participation of 161 players with Colombo fielding the most of 85 players followed by Ratnapura 34 and Gampaha 26.

The players have been divided into 12 groups with four in each and the top two players of each group will qualify to contest the knockout stage. The tournament will be played at two venues, S&L Pool Cafe in Slave Island and Port of Pool in Hultsdorf. 

The final is slotted to be played at the S&L Pool Café.
