Play Expo set to boost Sri Lanka Esports

Gamer.LK announced the return of Play Expo 2025, Sri Lanka’s largest celebration of Esports, with Munchee Savory as Platinum Partner and gaming powered by Coca-Cola today and tomorrow at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC) in Colombo.

A media statement issued by Gamer.LK said that as the country’s premier platform for competitive gaming, technology and digital entertainment, Play Expo continues to bring together gamers, fans and creators for an unforgettable weekend of competition and community.

“Built on the legacy of the Sri Lanka Cyber Games which began in 2008, Play Expo has grown into the premier event for competitive gaming in the country. This year’s event will see over 3,500 gamers from across the island competing across more than 25 Esports titles on PC, mobile and console as Sri Lanka’s best battle for glory,” the statement further said.

Play Expo 2025 will feature popular titles including Valorant, Dota 2, League of Legends, Tekken 8, Street Fighter VI, Counter Strike 2, Call of Duty 4, and Mortal Kombat 1 on PC, while mobile gamers will compete in PUBG MOBILE, Free Fire, Mobile Legends, Honor of Kings, Call of Duty Mobile, eFootball Mobile and Real Cricket.

Console and simulator events such as F1 2025 and FC 26 will also be featured, alongside VR competitions like Beat Saber, showcasing the full spectrum of Esports talent and technology.

Reflecting the event’s inclusivity, Play Expo will also host a Women’s Esports segment featuring titles such as Valorant, Free Fire, League of Legends, Mobile Legends, PUBG MOBILE and Mortal Kombat 1, giving female gamers a platform to compete and showcase their growing presence in the Sri Lankan Esports scene.

For the next generation of young gamers, the event introduces a school-level Minecraft competition while kids aged 12 and below can enjoy titles like Temple Run and Subway Surfers, designed especially for them.

“This year’s Play Expo represents the continued growth of Sri Lankan Esports and its recognition as a true competitive sport,” said Raveen Wijayatilake, CEO of Gamer.LK. “We’re seeing more players, more diversity, and stronger communities forming every year. Some of the titles featured here are also featured at the Asian Games next year where Esports is a medal sport and the athletes competing at Play Expo could be among those who qualify in the future to represent Sri Lanka and bring home international medals. Play Expo is where that energy comes together to inspire the next generation of Esports athletes.”

Recognised by the Sri Lanka Esports Association (SLESA) as a ranked tournament, Play Expo serves as an official platform within the national Esports ecosystem, offering players the chance to earn national rankings and qualify to represent Sri Lanka on the international stage.

Beyond the tournaments, Play Expo offers a complete experience with tech showcases, influencer meet-ups, and immersive exhibits that highlight the innovation and creativity shaping the industry. From the latest hardware to virtual reality setups, every corner of the Expo is designed to engage, entertain, and inspire.

The media statement also said further details and registration for Play Expo 2025 can be done by visiting www.playexpo.lk while admission tickets can be purchased through the website and fans can follow @gamerlk on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok for the latest news and sneak peeks of what’s to come.
