Nethmi and Matheesha pocket squash titles



Nethmi Wickramasinghe claimed the girls’ title in the Under-19 segment after a gripping five-set battle (3–2) while Matheesha Wijesekara swept to victory in the boys’ final with a dominant 3–0 performance at the Ritzbury-sponsored Junior National Squash Championship held at the Air Force Sports Complex.

The championship also recognized rising talent with Chanumi Thebuwena named the ‘Most Promising Girl Player of the Year 2025’ after winning the Girls’ Under-15 title and finishing fourth in the Under-17s. 

Kemitha Hapuarachchi secured the title of the ‘Most Promising Boy Player of the Year 2025’, following his runner-up finish in the Boys’ Under-17s and fourth in the Under-19s.

“At Sri Lanka Squash, this championship is one of the most important milestones in our calendar as it highlights both the depth of talent and the bright future of the sport in the country.
