The Mercantile Volleyball Association of Sri Lanka has announced that the mercantile tournament will be held in August and September with the participation of over 100 men’s and women’s teams.

All Applications for the tournament will close on July 31, while further details and entry procedures are available through MVA Official Website.

The tournament, revived in 2012 with only 50 teams, has now grown into a major event in the mercantile sports calendar.

Preliminary matches are scheduled to be played at the Sir Albert F. Peiris Sports Complex in August, while the finals will take place at the same venue in September.

Employees who joined their respective organisations before April 30, 2026, are eligible to participate.

Organisers said the total prize money on offer will exceed Rs. 1 million, with trophies, medals, certificates and individual awards also to be presented.

The association stated that the tournament aims to promote volleyball within the mercantile sector while also creating opportunities for young players to advance to higher levels of the sport. The competition has produced four national players in recent years.
