Maris Stella unbeaten under-15 cricket champion

The champion Maris Stella College Thimbirigaskatuwa squad comprising Kevin Stephan (captain), Shavika Soysa, Shanthusha de Silva, Dulek Fernando, Tashen Hiranya, Dineth Weerasinghe, Thamindu Perera, Teshan Manuja, Onel Francis, Ishel Fernando, Disanda Fernando, Inuja Senevirathna, Sasindu Pahasara, Imesh Fernando, Sadew Akarsha de Silva, Senuja Denath, Vihanga Fernando, Rev. Maris Stella College Thimbirigaskatuwa emerged champion of the Under 15 Division Three inter-school cricket tournament with a comfortable first innings win over Ganthiriyagama Mahinda Maha Vidyalaya in the final played at DS Senanayake College ground Wijerama Mawatha Colombo. 

The tournament had the participation of 690 teams around the island.

Ganthiriyagama Mahinda Maha Vidyalaya taking first lease of the wicket were wrecked by left arm spinner Biwan Fernando who had figures of 6 for 10 bowling them out for a paltry 44 runs.

Maris Stella in their run chase too underwent some anxious moments and was struggling on 35 for 4 before the fifth pair of Kevin Stephan and Dulek Fernando came to their rescue as the pair associated in a valuable 60 runs to help them to end their innings with a score of 115 which was sufficient to clinch the title.

Maris Stella in the process ended the tournament with an unbeaten record. 

Both teams will be promoted to the Under 15 Division Two category next season.
