India’s Virat Kohli reached a milestone of 9000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and became the first batter to do so playing against the Delhi Capitals on Monday night.
Kohli is the only player in the IPL play continue playing for the team that he first played for with the beginning of the championship in 2008 that was the Royal Challengers in Bangalore.
Along the way Kohli reached all the milestones playing for the same Royal Challengers Bangalore team reaching 1000 runs and 5000 runs before posting 9000 runs. He now sits on top of the batting rankings for the highest aggregate of runs which is 9012. He has struck eight hundreds and 66 half centuries in the IPL.
Kohli has currently aggregated 351 runs in the tournament from eight appearances at the crease in the 2026 IPL and also became the first player in the IPL to hit 800 fours which he did during his knock of 81 against the Gujarat Titans having made a grand total of 275 appearances at the crase, the highest by any player in the IPL since it began in 2008. He also has 305 sixes to his credict behind Chris Gayle’s 357 sixes and Rohit Sharma who has hit 310 sixes.
Kohli has played in 123 Test matches for India aggregating 9230 runs which includes 30 hundreds and 31 half centuries.
In 311 ODI matches for India, Kohli has accumulated 14,797 runs 54 hundreds and 77 half centuries.
Playing in 125 T20 matches for India, Kohli made 4188 runs that includes one century and 38 fifties.
In all Kohli, now age 37, has struck as many as 322 international sixes of which 168 were in ODI matches.
