Kandy will host two inter school rugby matches today in the Plate segment when Kingswood College hosts St. Joseph’s College at the Bogambara Stadium while St. Anthony’s College will host Dharmaraja College at Nittawela.
Both games will kick-off at 4.00 p.m.
The lads from Randles Hill have done well in their last three games after losing to the Thomians by a solitary point and beaten by Isipathana. They got their act together to win the balance three encounters and the momentum is on their side.
Meanwhile the Joes are no pushovers. Though losing to Trinity and Royal, they drew against Vidyartha, got the better of Thurstan and scored a huge win over Sumangala signing off round one and showing their intentions clear for the Plate segment.
The referee will be Jeewaka Fonseka.
St. Anthony’s will host Dharmaraja in a must-win encounter for both teams. The Rajans, still searching for their first victory of the season, will be desperate to make use of their Kandy advantage to break the losing streak.
The Antonians managed a solitary win in a closely contested encounter against Science College away in Mount Lavinia and will look to build on that momentum to steer clear of the danger zone.
They got the momentum and decision-making has been the main issue with the lads from Katugastota. They have got one of the best in the trade in head coach Saliya Kumara.
The referee will be Nalin Lasantha.
