HNB wins Mercantile knock-out Netball Tournament

Defending champions Hatton National Bank (HNB) won the Mercantile Knock-out ‘A’ Division Netball championship at St. Joseph’s College Indoor Stadium, Colombo. The tournament was conducted by the Mercantile Netball Association under five categories.

HNB have won main championships in two weeks. Prior to this they were champions at the Netball Nationals. The HNB team was champions in the Mixed Knock-out Tournament as well.

Gayanjalee Amarawansa was selected the Netball Queen in both competitions.

In the ‘A’ Division final between HNB vs. Seylan Bank, with HNB winning by 54-43. The third place went to Citizen Development Bank (CDB) who beat Seylan Bank 51-25.

Omega ‘A’ bagged the ‘B’ Division title while HNB emerged Mixed Division champions. The ‘C’ Division champions were MAS Kreeda Shadeline.

In the Invitation Men’s Tournament Campbell Sports Club won the championship.

Final Match Results:

‘A’ Division Winner- HNB; Runners-up- Seylan (54-43)

Third Place- Citizens Development Bank beat Seylan (51-25)

‘B’ Division Winner- Omega Line ‘A’, Runners-up - Singer Sri Lanka (45-36), Third Place- Pan Asia Bank

Mixed Division Winner- HNB. Runners-up- CDB (30-19)

Third Place- Brandix Group

‘C’ Division Winners- MAS Keeeda Shadeline, Runners-up- Omega Line ‘B’ (32-25), Third Place- Brandix Group

Invitation Men’s Winner- Campbell Sports Club, Runners-up –Suriya Kirina Sports Club

Special Awards:

Team Spirit- Pan Asia Bank, Best Attair- MAS Kreeda Shadeline, Best Centre Courts Player- Manddira Sampath (Seylan), Best Defence Player- Gayani Dissanayake (HNB), Best Shooter- Dharshika Abeywickrema (HNB) and Netball Queen- Gayanjalee Amarawansa (HNB).
