Tharindu Chathuranga the frontline former Kingswood College flanker and Sri Lanka player is tipped to lead Kandy Sports Club in the 2025/2026 rugby season.
Tharindu represented Kingswood College from 2011 to 2013 and after leaving school joined the champion Kandy Sports Club in the same year in 2013.
Tharindu enrolled at Kingswood College from Eheliyagoda Central where he started rugby in 2007 and shifted his base to the Randles Hill outfit in the late 2010.
Tharindu who is in his 12th year with Kandy SC, stands out as a symbol of loyalty and consistency for the club. His experience at both club and national level brings a wealth of knowledge that will be invaluable as Kandy SC aim to defend their titles in the upcoming season.
Tharindu earned his national jersey in 2013 and proved his mettle during the recently concluded Asia Rugby Top 4 Championship, playing against Hong Kong, South Korea and the UAE. His performances were marked by grit and courage, earning respect across the region while leading the forwards of Sri Lanka.
Fazil Marija continues as the team”s head coach.
