Dimuth Karunaratne cracked 89 as Colombo taking first lease of the wicket made a score of 296 against Galle on day one of the four day National Super League tournament encounter played at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium. Galle facing three overs ended the day on 3 for 1.
A ton by Ranesh Silva and a half ton by Sanoj Dharshika was the highlights of the first day’s play in the match between Dambulla and Jaffna played at the Pallekele Stadium.
Silva and Dharshika put on a massive second wicket stand of 179 runs for Dambulla to make 263 for 5 when the match was called off due to bad light.
The two matches are of academic interest as table leaders Galle and second placed Kandy have already qualified to the final.
The matches will be continued today.
