The fourth week of the Dialog Schools Rugby League tournament with four matches down for decision will see four unbeaten teams defending champions St. Peter’s, Wesley, Trinity and Royal coming into the field aiming to record their fourth win.
From the four matches the pick of the clashes is no doubt between St. Peter’s and Wesley scheduled to kick-off at 4.15 p.m.at Havelock Park while in the other three matches the scale is in favour of Isipathana, Trinity and Royal.
St. Peter’s vs Wesley
This match should be a closely contested and interesting encounter as looking back at the performances of the two teams from three matches that they have played, it looks that the two teams are equally balanced.
The Wesleyites have shown their capabilities and are having a successful run in the league so far, having won their matches against Science College, D.S. Senanayake and St. Anthony’s.
St. Peter’s on the other hand has not been able to show their prowess as they underwent some anxious moments in their first match against newcomers Ananda and also had to pull out all stops against St. Anthony’s and Science College.
St. Joseph’s vs Trinity
The scale is in favour of the high-riding Trinity side who has so far won their matches with ease against hometown rivals Sri Sumangala and Vidyartha, and also Thurstan. They should have little difficulty in brushing aside St. Joseph’s who have been able to chalk up only one win against Thurstan and that too they were made to work hard for it.
Royal vs Vidyartha
This should be another cake walk for Royal who have scoring margins of over 50 points against the hapless Thurstan, Sri Sumangala and a win against St. Joseph’s for their third win.
It’s left to be seen how Vidyartha is going to prevent the high riding Royal from going on the rampage.
Isipathana vs Zahira
Isipathana should secure their fourth successive win at the expense of host Zahira as they will be coming into the game with confidence having recorded three successive wins against newcomers Mahanama and two teams in the hill capital Kingswood and Dharmaraja.
Zahira began on a winning note with a comfortable win against Dharmaraja but underwent consecutive defeats against S. Thomas’ and Kingswood. They are left with the daunting task of stalling Isipathana from going on a scoring spree.
