The Dialog Schools Rugby League is gathering momentum and the first and second round matches saw newcomers Ananda and Mahanama College pulling off stunning wins against two long standing sides Science and College and Dharmaraja.
This week the third round will get underway with four matches down for decision in Colombo being S. Thomas’ vs Mahanama at Mt. Lavinia, St. Peter’s vs Zahira at Maradana, Zahira vs Kingswood at Maradana scheduled to be played today and Ananda vs DSS tomorrow at Ananda ground in Rajagiriya.
S. Thomas’ vs Mahanama
The Thomians will be coming into the field with the aim aim of securing their third win having scraped through against Kingswood but recorded a comfortable win against Zahira last week while Mahanama having undergone a defeat to Isipathana in the first match came back to chalk up a stunning win against Dharmaraja.
So this game no doubt is going to be an interesting tussle due to the fact that both the teams will coming into the game with a mission, However the scale is in favour of the sea side boys but Mahanama who gave Pathana some anxious moments are going to be a tough for the Thomians.
St. Peter’s vs Science
Defending champions St. Peter’s is another seeking their third win and Science on the other hand are yet to see re winning post who have a daunting task of staving off the challenge of the home team.
The Peterites are back to square one as they have been given the green light to include the players who were suspended and it’s left to be seen whether they will field the full side and most probably would likely do that. So with the Peterites having the edge it’s left to be seen whether Science College would be able to prevent the Peterites go on a rampage.
Zahira vs Kingswood
Zahira with one in will confront the winless Kingswood side in another interesting match. Zahira after their win against Dharmaraja underwent a heavy defeat to S. Thomas’ and they would have remedied their shortcomings to match the gritty Kingswood side.
Kingswood on the other hand was unfortunate to go down to the Thomians by a solitary point but was unable to prevent the Green Machine winning. With Kingswood looking for their first win and Zahira seeking their second, another interesting match is on the card with two equally matched teams.
Ananda vs DSS
On paper D.S. Senanayake look to have the advantage but Ananda newcomers to the top division for sure are not going to be easy nuts to break as they shown their capabilities in the first two matches that they have played.
Ananda with their stunning win against Science College will come into the game with confidence and DSS though began their campaign with a win against St. Anthony’s lost to Wesley and will be seeking to redeem their lost prestige and come back to winning terms. So it’s going to be even stevens and predicting the final outcome is
not easy.
