Sri Lankan sprinter Yupun Abeykoon will make a comeback after a long layoff when he competes at the Dubai Grand Prix 2025 on May 9 at the Police Grounds in Dubai, UAE.
Abeykoon will join a host of other Sri Lankan sprinters, who will be vying for honours at the first-ever sprint event to be held in Dubai.
The Sri Lankan contingent left for Dubai last night.
Birmingham Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Abeykoon will participate in the Men’s 100m and in the Men’s 4X100m relay event along with Chamod Yodasinghe, Meron Wijesinghe and Deneth Weeraratne.
This will be Abeykoon’s first major event since the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2023 after having recovered from a foot injury.
