The Wesley College Old Boys’ Union (OBU) marked the grand finale of their Sesquicentennial celebrations
with the unveiling of a brand-new classic scoreboard at Campbell Park.
Led by the dynamic Capt. Navin De Silva and generously sponsored by distinguished old boy Trishan Sathyadheva, the project was a highlight of the 150th-Anniversary agenda.
The event drew a vibrant crowd including the Sathyadheva family, representatives from NABCO (UK), OBU members, and prominent overseas old boys. Principal Avanka Fernando, Project Chairman Maithri Vithanage, K. Dayaparan, Consultant Farizan Amith and Air Vice Marshal Sampath Wickremaratne were among those who played pivotal roles in bringing the project to life.
Wesley sports legends like hockey great P. B. Herath and football icon B. M. N. Jurangpathy graced the occasion, evoking memories of Wesley’s golden sporting era of the 1950s.
Past and present Presidents of the OBU and the Old Wesleyites Sports Club, Ivor Maharoof, S. Renganathan, Fowzil Nawaz, and Senaka Amarathunge were also present at the gathering to grace this occasion.
Both Principal Fernando and Capt. De Silva expressed heartfelt gratitude to Sathyadheva for his significant contribution, as well as to Air Vice Marshal Wickremaratne for his continued support.

In a moving speech, Sathyadheva credited his achievements to the values instilled at Wesley and thanked Capt. De Silva for allowing him to give it back. He was presented with The Sesquicentennial Chronicle and a commemorative plaque in appreciation.
Adding a personal touch, Sathyadheva’s 50th birthday was celebrated with a cake-cutting at the newly restored “Country Club Style” Pavilion - a fitting tribute to an exemplary Old Boy.
Also acknowledged were Wesley cricketers and platinum donors of the pavilion restoration: Sridhar Kanagasabapathy, Kugan Thirunavukarassu, Derick Ginger and Don Ajith Wijesundara.
The event symbolised not just the end of a milestone year but the enduring unity and spirit of Wesley.
