Under 19 Semi-Final Trinity, Richmond book berths in final

Trinity College Kandy and Richmond College Galle booked the final slots of the Under 19 Tier ‘A’ inter-school limited over cricket tournament with wins over St. Anthony’s College Katugastota and St. Benedict’s College Kotahena in the two semi-final encounters played at the Thurtsan ground.  


The battle between traditional rivals Trinity and St. Anthony’s College saw the former recording a thrilling two wicket win with four balls to spare.   Trinity in reply to St. Anthony’s score of 202 helped by a half ton from Theeraka Ranatunga reached the target in 40.2 overs.  


The match between Richmond and St. Benedict’s was a closely contested affair with Richmond taking first lease of the wicket helped by half tons from Janith Kaushal and Malsha Tharupathi making a modest score of 234 runs and then succeeding to restrict their opponents for a score of 222 runs.   


Giving Richmond a close 12 runs win.

St. Anthony’s 202 for 6 in 50 overs (Thisara Ekanayake 35, Traveen Mathew 25, Kovindu Shehan 74 not out, Janith Ratnasiri 27 not out; Vibhavith Ehelapola 2 for 27, Theeraka Ranatunga 2 for 31)  
Trinity 204 for 8 in 49.2 overs (Theeraka Ranatunga 57, Wathila Udara 37, Dinusha Peiris 29, Rahal Amarasinghe 23, Janith Ravishka 17, Vibhavith Ehelapola 18 not out; Traveen Mathew 3 for 40)  

At Thurstan – Richmond won by 12 runs
