Under 19 Cricket Kavin steers Methodist High School to title victory

A fine knock of 141 in 123 balls with 14 boundaries and half a dozen sixes by Kavin Fernando helped Methodist High School Moratuwa record a comfortable six-wicket win over Jaffna Central in the final to emerge champions of the Under-19 Division Three Tier ‘A’ inter-schools cricket tournament played at the Army Gunners ground in Minneriya.   

The high scoring match saw Jaffna Central taking first lease of the wicket making a challenging score of 250 runs and Methodist High School in their run chase helped by Fernando’s knock raced to the target in the 48th over.   

At Minneriya – Methodist High School won by six wickets

Jaffna Central 250 in 49.1 overs (Jayatheeswaran Vithusan 86, Matheeswaran Sanjayan 31, Anandan Kajan 22, S. Sarangan 16, Vinajakaselvam Kavitharsan 24 not out; Sihina Fernando 2 for 48)
