Under 17 Cricket Mahendra. Dinal steers Trinity to semis

Half tons by Mahendra Baratha and Dinal Fernando paved the way for Trinity to record a comfortable 61 run win over Rahula Matara in the quarter final encounter of the Under 17 Division One inter-schools limited over cricket tournament played at De Mazenod ground in Kandana yesterday.

Mahendra cracked 72 in 95 balls inclusive of ten boundaries and a six while, Dinal made 55 with nine boundaries came to the rescue of Trinity taking a first lease of the wicket when they were badly placed on 40 for 3 in the 12th over with the pair sharing a valuable 123 runs stand for the fourth wicket which followed by another valuable 52 runs stand for the fifth wicket between Dinal and Mohamed Aadham to help Trinity make a modest score of 238 for 6.

Later Rahula in their run chase despite a top knock of 70 coming from Risinu Ginuka lost wickets at regular intervals as from 125 for 5 they lost their remaining five wickets for the addition of 52 runs and were bowled out for 177 which ensured Trinity the semi-final berth.

Rahula Matara 177 in 43 overs (Risinu Ginuka 70, Pawara Pabasara 38: Viduneth Dhammage 2 for 15, Ammaar Manzil 2 for 31)
