Two schoolboys selected for Asian boxing meet in Dubai

Two schoolboys were selected to represent Sri Lanka in the ASBC Asian Junior and Youth Boxing Championship, to be held in Dubai from August 17-31. 

Nalanda College’s G.P.U. Mihiran (Youth Men Flyweight Under-15kg) and Dheerananda MMV, Pilimathalawa’s K.G.K.M. Karunasinghe (Junior Boy’s Light Flyweight Under-50kg) were the two selected.

The Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), with the support of the Schools Boxing Association (SBA), held a trial meet to select boxers for this meet.
Former SBA secretary K.K. Sunil will accompany the team as manager with AIBA 3-Star coach Amila Tissera as head coach and T.S. Weerasena an AIBA 3-star referee/judge as an official.
BASL President Dian Gomes has written to the Education Ministry seeking approval for the boxers and officials to participate in this meet.
