Three elite athletes for Taiwan Open

Three Sri Lanka senior elite athletes left the island yesterday to participate in the Taiwan Open Athletics Championships, a World Athletics Bronze category meet, to be held in Taipei City on June 7 and 8.

Chamod Yodhasinghe (Men’s 100m), Lesandu Arthavidu (Men’s high jump) and Dilhani Lekamge (Women’s javelin) will participate in this meet while Asanka Rajakaruna will accompany the squad as coach cum manager.

Aruna Darshana, Kalinga Kumarage and Nisendra Fernando were also nominated for this meet but all withdrew due to injuries and illness.

Meanwhile, all expenses including air tickets, food and accommodation will be borne by the Taiwan Athletics Association at the request of Sri Lanka Athletic President Maj.Gen. (Rtd) Palitha Fernando.
