Sudden death of champion athlete Madushani shocks Sri Lanka athletics

Sri Lanka’s leading athlete (400m national champion ) Kaushalya Madushani passed away suddenly yesterday (April 24), Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) announced.

A product of Kuliyapitiya Central College, 25-year-old Madushani won the women’s 400m hurdles final at the National Athletic Championship recently. She clocked 58.76 seconds to win the event on April 23 and be adjudged the most outstanding athlete. 

She won a silver medal at the 2014 Asian Junior Games, bronze medal at the 2016 South Asian Games and silver medal at the 2019 Kathmandu South Asian Games.
