Sri Lanka accounted for 84 Gold Medals, 40 Silver Medals and 20 Bronze Medals at the inaugural South Indian Senior Masters Athletics Open Championships, held at the Mahatma Gandhi Sports Grounds in Udupi, Karnataka, India.   

The 54-member Sri Lanka Masters Athletic Team dominated this two-day meet while overcoming some of the more fancied Indian athletes from many Indian States.   

The Sri Lanka Masters Athletic Team was accompanied by Chandra Wijerathna (Manager), Karuna Samarasinghe (Assistant Manager), Mahinda Lakshman (Captain) and Jasmin Adamlebbe (Vice-Captain) as officials.
