The annual South West Monsoon Meet 2025 teed off in style at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).

This meet saw more than 150 golfers teeing off with Dialog Enterprises sponsoring the four-day event.

The Calcutta Medal, contested on nett score, was a show of sharp form, with Gihan Wickramasinghe producing a superb round of 58 nett to clinch the title. Jagath Gunawardena followed with a solid 63 nett to earn the runner-up spot, a performance that would lay the foundation for his success in the next challenge.

Gunawardena turned the tables in the Victoria Cup, maintaining consistency over two rounds (63 and 71 nett) to finish with a winning aggregate of 134 nett. Wickramasinghe, despite a brilliant opening 58, fell just short after carding a 78 in the second round, finishing with 136 nett to secure second place.

In the Squadron Cup, Prof. Deepal Weerasekera emerged victorious with a remarkable four-round total of 281 nett, thanks to steady play (64, 65, 75, and 77). Hot on his heels was Adrian Pereira, who delivered the lowest single-round score (68) of the event but ultimately settled for runner-up with 283 nett.

The Aggregate Gold Medal, based on gross score, saw Kumar Danushan rise above the field with consistent rounds (69, 79, 73, 73), totalling 294. He held off a spirited challenge from W.A.K . Fernando, who posted 317 gross to finish second.

The ladies stole the spotlight in the Centenary Plate, with Keya Abhayaratne dominating with back-to-back 68s for a total of 136 nett. Dhinuka Boralessa impressed as runner-up with two balanced rounds of 70.
