Sarangi Silva breaks Sri Lanka long jump record in Turkey

Gold medalist at the Kathmandu South Asian Games (SAG) in the long jump Lakshini Sarangi Silva has set a new Sri Lanka record in the event.  


She leapt a distance of 6.44 metres on her way to win an international meet in Istanbul, Turkey yesterday.  
The women’s long jump Sri Lanka record of 6.43m was held by N.C.D. Priyadarshani since 2015.  
Sarangi Silva won the SAG gold medal with a leap of 6.38m.  


The women’s long jump Sri Lanka record has evolved from 4.84m in 1942 to 6.44m in a span of 79 years.
