Reshan sparkles to tie for 4th

11th Nepal Amateur Open Golf Championship

Reshan Algama continued to turn heads at the 11th Nepal Amateur Open Golf Championship 2025 carding a 4-under-par 68 in the second round in Nepal yesterday. 

The outstanding round propelled him to a tie for fourth place with a two-day aggregate of 140 marking one of the strongest international showings by a Sri Lankan junior golfer at this elite amateur event. He was tied with Shahab Uddin of Bangladesh.

Reshan’s composed and aggressive play on day two followed his even-par opening round, and he now finds himself well within striking distance of a podium finish heading into the final round.

His performance reinforces his growing reputation as one of Sri Lanka’s most promising amateur golfers.

The spotlight on day two, however, belonged to local hero Sadbhav Acharya who delivered a record-breaking round of 12-under-par 60 - the lowest ever recorded at the Gokarna course. With a staggering 36-hole total of 126, Acharya has taken a commanding lead and written his name into Nepalese golf history.

Among the other Sri Lankan participants, Chanaka Perera battled through to finish at 148 while Sachin de Silva posted a 160, both managing to make the cut and progress to the final day. Both were private entries.

Unfortunately, Chalitha Pushpika was forced to withdraw due to an injury after day one. In total out of 60 golfers, 32 made the cut after the round two.

Today is the final day of the competition.
