National Super League Kumara, Mendis crack tons as Galle amass 703

Tons by Pathum Kumara and skipper Ramesh Mendis for Galle against Colombo were the highlights of the final day’s play of the four-day National Super League cricket tournament encounter concluded at the Sooriyawewa Stadium yesterday, which ended in a first-inning win for Galle.


In the final day’s play, Galle, resuming from their overnight score of 439/5, was guided by overnight batsmen Kumara and Mendis, who both went on to make tons. Kumara made 151, inclusive of 12 boundaries, and Mendis scored 149, with 13 boundaries and a six, as the duo added a further 130 runs to their seventh-wicket partnership and ended with a massive 225-run stand, which was the second double-century stand of the innings for Galle to end the day with a massive score of 703/9 to secure an easy first-inning win.
