The Mercantile Netball Association (MNA) Team won the champions title at the second Sri Lions Sports Club Trophy Invitation League Netball Tournament 2025 held at the St. Joseph’s College Indoor Stadium in Colombo.
The MNA and Sri Lions Sports Club competed in the final of this tournament, which was organised by Sri Lions Sports Club and Academy. The MNA Team emerged victorious by a convincing margin of 69-38.
The defending champions State Service Netball Association Team had to be content with third place this time.
The MNA Team and the Sri Lions Sports Club Team included several experienced national and international netball players.
Meanwhile, three players who performed exceptionally well in the final, Dayani Dissanayaka (MNA), Hasitha Mendis (Sri Lions SC) and Gayanjalee Amarawansa (MNA) qualified to participate at the Sri Lions Dubai 7s International Netball Tournament.
Former Sri Lanka Youth Captain Gayani Dissanayaka of MNA was selected as the Best Defensive Player of the final and Player of the Tournament.
In addition, Dharshika Abeywickrama (MNA) and Dulangi Wannithilaka (MNA) were selected as the Best Shooter and Best Centrecourt Player respectively.
Seven strong local and foreign teams were invited to participate in this tournament, including Sri Lions Sports Club, State Services Netball Association, MNA, Sri Lanka School Netball Association, Kotelawala Defence University Sports Club and Brunei Sports Club.
The seven teams included netball players from Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Brunei.
