Mahanama College emerge LV Jayaweera boxing champions

Mahanama College, Colombo emerged champions at the 46th L.V. Jayaweera inter-school boxing meet for freshers held at St Sylvester’s College, Kandy. Mahanama boxers won three gold medals and one bronze medal. This is the first time they have won a national level tournament. A total of 468 boxers from 86 schools took part in this tournament. Sumana Saman College, Ratnapura who won two gold medals and two silvers were runners-up. Trinity College, Kandy clinched third position winning two gold medals and one bronze medal. Peradeniya College, W.G.S.G. Warnakulasuriya was adjudged the Best Boxer while Zahira’s M Waseem was picked as the Best Loser. Lankatilleke College, Pilimathalawa’s N.M.L.N. Navaratne was adjudged the most promising boxer. Mahanama’s Y.M. Anura Yapa was declared the best coach.
