Kingswood and Dharmaraja battle today

The rugby match for the William Weerasinghe Trophy returns with another eagerly looked forward to contest as Kingswood College and Dharmaraja College will be played today at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy with kick-off at 4 pm.

First introduced in 2001, the William Weerasinghe Trophy commemorates the late William Weerasinghe, a distinguished past President of the Dharmaraja Old Boys’ Union whose dedication and service played a significant role in the development of the school. 

The late Weerasinghe was also a rugby manager of Kandy Sports Club for more than two decades.

He was also the father of current President of Kandy Sports Club, Mahesh Weerasinghe and the late Chaminda Weerasinghe, making the occasion especially meaningful for the Weerasinghe family and the rugby fraternity.

Kingswood enter the match as the trophy holders after registering a convincing 27-17 victory in last year’s encounter.
