Inaugural Battle of the Crowns Avishka slams 178 for Christ King

A quickfire 178 in only 128 balls inclusive of 14 boundaries and nine sixes by Avishka Nirmal for Christ King College against traditional rivals Carey College was the highlight of the first day’s play in the inaugural Battle of the Crowns big match played at P. Sara Oval.

Avishka shared two partnerships of 123 for the fourth wicket with Chanidu Wenusara and 134 for the fifth wicket with Wishmitha Aloka as Christ King College made a formidable of 314 for five declared.

Carey in their turn were struggling on 34 for three.
