ITF Asia Under 14 Development Championship Annaya and Sahansa clinch doubles title

Sri Lanka juniors were able to win only one of the four matches that they contested in the  knockout stages in the ITF Asia Under 14 South Asia, South East Asia and East Asia Development Week 1 Tennis Championship at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.
Annaya Norbert who qualified to the finals in both the girl’s singles and doubles events succeeded in winning the doubles title partnering Sahansa Damsiluni. The Sri Lankan pair defeated the Philippines duo of Paglalunan Wlla and Torrecampo Maristela in a close encounter by two sets to one.
Annaya earlier suffered a defeat in the girl’s singles event to Shivali Gurung of Nepal by two sets to nil.
In the boy’s category, Damsath Peiris who was in action in both the singles and doubles events bowed out of contention. Damsath lost the singles semi final when he was beaten by Pak Nicholas Ming of Singapore by two sets to one. In the doubles final, partnering Yudhirya Athapaththu, the Sri Lankan pair went down to the Singapore duo of Pak Nicholas Ming and Tay Mathew by two sets to one.
Singaporean Pak Nichola Ming will be aiming to win his second title when he plays against Shayan Muhammad of Pakistan in the final scheduled to be played today.

Doubles: Annaya Norbert/Sahansa Damsiluni (Sri Lanka) beat Paglalunan Wlla/Torrecampo Maristela (Philippines) 2-1 (6/2, 2/6, 10/3).
Boys Under 14
Doubles: Pak Nicholas Ming/Tay Mathew (Singapore) beat Damsath Peiris/Yudhirya Athapaththu (Sri Lanka) 2-1 (6/4, 4/6, 10/6)
Semi Finals
Boys Under 14 Singles: Pak Nicholas Ming (Singapore) beat Damsath Peiris (Sri Lanka) 2-1 (6/4, 4/3, 6/3); Muhammad Shyayan (Pakistan) beat Tay Mathew (Singapore) 2-0 (7/6, 6/4)
