FSL to focus on schools football for the next five months

Football Sri Lanka (FSL) President Jaswar Umar has decided to conduct several Open inter-school football tournaments during the next five months.

In a bid to take the sport to the villages and schools, FSL hopes to conduct tournaments for the age group 14 to 15.

No school competitions have been held since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic since 2019 with the last tournament being the National School Games.

The school tournaments are being held following the concept of Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa to take sports to the villages and schools, the FSL hopes to form a national pool of school footballers after these competitions.
