CIS emerge Girls’ Under-20 cager champs

Colombo International School (CIS) emerged as Under-20 Girls’ ‘B’ Division Inter-Schools basketball champions when they defeated Holy Family Convent, Jaffna 52-47 in the tournament’s final, organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association.   
Having beaten the same opponents 51-40 earlier in the group stage, CIS took a seven-point lead by the half way stage of the game and held their nerve before recording a thrilling victory in the end.   
CIS secured a convincing 46-34 win over Sirimavo Bandaranaike BMV in the semi-finals having also defeated Dharmasoka (81-43) and Lyceum, Nugegoda (68-47) in two other group stage matches.   
Special awards were presented to Amaya De Silva (Best Defensive Player) and Raiyah Hamza (Most Valuable Player).
