Sri Lanka’s top-ranked amateur golfer Reshan Algama produced a superb opening round at the Asia Pacific Junior Golf Championship 2025 at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling.
Reshan carded a two-under-par 69 to place fourth after day one. Vietnam’s Nguyen Tuan Anh led the field with an outstanding six under-par 65 followed closely by Moore Cooper of New Zealand who shot a 66 (5-under), claiming second place.
Reshan’s steady round placed him well within striking distance of the lead, with two more days of intense competition remaining. His performance is being closely followed back home, as he continues to carry Sri Lanka’s hopes on the international stage.
Meanwhile, fellow Sri Lankan Adhithya Weerasinghe had a tougher outing, ending with a 7 over-par score, placing him 28th position.
In the team event Sri Lanka stands eighth in the rankings, while Australia leads, trailed closely by Philippines
