Air Force sports achievers felicitated

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe in his capacity as the President of the Air Force Sports Council graced a special felicitation ceremony held at Air Force Headquarters in Colombo.

The ceremony honoured sportsmen and women of the Air Force who had excelled in various disciplines including boxing, weightlifting, judo, lifesaving, karate, wrestling, shooting, volleyball, handball, archery, taekwondo, squash, netball and golf.

These individuals have demonstrated outstanding performances at DefenceServices, National and International sports championships.

In addition, individuals who have achieved excellence at the above levels were recognised and rewarded by the President of the Air Force Sports Council.

 In addition to honouring specific individuals, the Commander acknowledged the dedication of Air Force wrestling coach Sergeant D. A. W. Kumara, Air Force volleyball Women’s team coach, Corporal J. A. D. N. R. Jayakodi, Air Force boxing coach S. P. C. S. Jayathilaka and Air Force judo coach P. G. Sunil for their contributions in upholding the prestige of the Air Force in the field of sports.

The event was attended by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Members of the Air Force Board of Management, as well as Chairmen, Secretaries, Managers and a diverse group of players representing various Air Force sports disciplines.
