The girls’ and boys’ finals of the ATF Under-12 Tennis Tournament, scheduled to be played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo, over the weekend, were washed out due to the inclement weather.
The Sri Lanka girls’ outfit was down to contest against the Indian girls and the boys against Pakistan.
In the round robin stage, the two Sri Lankan teams ended their campaign with an unbeaten record, with the girls chalking up wins against Maldives, Pakistan and Nepal, while the boys secured wins against India, whom they defeated for the first time since the tournament began in 2019, Nepal and Bhutan.
The four-day ATF U-12 tournament saw the participation of seven countries, namely Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, India, the Maldives, Bhutan and host Sri Lanka.
However, the four teams, Sri Lanka and India in the girls’ category and Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the boys’ category, by virtue of having made it to the finals in both categories, have qualified for the final scheduled to be played in August at Singapore.
